General Coin Information
The Royal Australian Mint released an uncirculated coin on May 9, 2009 to help celebrate International Nurses Day. The 2009 Australian Service Nurses Coin honors the contributions nurses have made in peacetime and in war.
This coin is the first in a new series entitled 'Australia Remembers' which pays tribute to past and present Australians who played important roles in the history of Australia.
Designed by Wojciech Pietranik, the coin features a nurse looking after her patient. The commemorative coin will ship in an illustrated presentation card
Obverse Design
A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the obverse. Also included are the inscriptions "Elizabeth II", "Australia" and "2009".
Reverse Design
Wojciech Pietranik designed the Australian Service Nurses coin. It portrays a nurse working over a patient.Also included are the inscriptions "Australia Remembers", "Australian Service Nurses" and "20".
