General Coin Information
Continuing the successful Discover Australia collection, the Perth Mint has started a three year series called Dreaming. The Discover Australia 2009 Dreaming – Kangaroo coin is the first of 15 coins that will be a part of this set. 2009 will see the release of 5 coins, followed by 5 in 2010 and the remaining 5 in 2011.
Indigenous designer Darryl Bellotti’s interpretation of a kangaroo is featured on the reverse of this coin. He has also designed the other 14 coins that will be released as part of the Dreaming collection. Darryl explains his artisitic style:
“You will identify it as Australian Indigenous art, but I also want you to recognise it as mine as soon as you see it".
All coins in the set will be available in gold, silver or platinum. The gold version will be issued in 3 different sizes, 1/2 oz, 1/10 oz and 1/25 oz.
Each coin will ship in a display case featuring a timber lid, along with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The coins will also be available in a 5 coin set which will include all of the coins released in 2009 as part of the Dreaming collection.

Obverse Design
Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the reverse. Also included are the inscriptions "Queen Elizabeth II", "Australia" and the denomination.
Reverse Design
The reverse was designed by Australian indigenous designer Darryl Bellotti, and contains his interpretation of the kangaroo. Across the top is the inscription "Discover Australia". Encircled on the bottom are "2009 Kangaroo", the size and "9999 Gold". Also shown is the Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark.
