General Coin Information
The Transformers - Megatron 1 oz Silver Proof coin has been released by the Perth Mint with the permission of Dreamworks and Hasbro. The coin is available now for AUS $88.64 to coincide with the release of the summer blockbuster movie Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen.
The movie is a sequel to the extremely successful Transformers movie that was released in 2007. The "Fallen" movie garnered more than $100 million domestically in its opening weekend, surpassing the record results achieved by the first movie.
Based on a 1980's cartoon television series, the franchise features the Autobots (which transform from vehicles to robots) who are sworn to protect Earth and its inhabitants from the Deceptacons. Megatron is the fearsome leader of the Deceptacons.
The Perth Mint coin featuring Megatron is minted from 1 ounce of 99.9% pure silver. With a face value of $1, it is issued as legal tender of the islands of Tuvalu. The coin will ship in an illustrated presentation box and include a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The mint will release no more than 5,000 of the coins.

Obverse Design
The obverse contains Raphael Maklouf's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Also included are the inscriptions "Queen Elizabeth II", "Tuvalu", "2009" and "1 Dollar".
Reverse Design
The reverse of the Transformers Megatron coin features a colored image of the Deceptacon leader. Also shown is the Deceptacon logo, the inscription "Transformers" and the Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark.
