Produced with the permission of Dreamworks and Hasbro, the Perth Mint has released a coin celebrating the icons behind the summer blockbuster movie Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen. Available for $AUS 88.64, The Transformers - Optimus Prime 1 oz Silver Proof coin is sure to be a hit with fans of all ages.
Based on a 1980's cartoon television series, the franchise expanded into the movie realm in 2007 when the movie Transformers took in almost $70 million in its opening weekend in North America. Blowing past that amount, the sequel took in over $100 million domestically in its first weekend.
The heroic leader of the Autobots is Optimus Prime. His mission is to protect Earth and its inhabitants from the evil Deceptacons.
The Perth Mint coin featuring Optimus Prime is minted from 1 ounce of 99.9% pure silver. It is issued as legal tender of the islands of Tuvalu with a face value of $1. The coin will ship in an illustrated presentation box and include a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The mint will release no more than 5,000 of the coins.

Obverse Design
The obverse contains Raphael Maklouf's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Also included are the inscriptions "Queen Elizabeth II", "Tuvalu", "2009" and "1 Dollar".

The reverse of the Transformers Optimus Prime coin features a colored image of the Autobots leader. Also shown is the Autobots logo, the inscription "Transformers" and the Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark.
