Appearing as the third annual release in a series that debuted in 2008 is the Perth Mint's 2010 Australian Koala Gold Proof Coin.

Struck from 99.99% pure gold, these coins have proven to be popular with collector's from around the world, not only for the gold they contain, but also for the numismatic value created by the annually changing designs . The 2010 design features a cuddly koala poised on a branch with all four paws while eating gum leaves.

Four different sizes are struck in this unique coin - 2 ounce, 1 ounce, 1/10 ounce and 1/25 ounce. Each ships in a jarrah timber lid presentation case with a custom designed shipper and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Obverse Design

The obverse depicts a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. Also inscribed is "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA 2010" and the face value of the coin.

Reverse Designs

The reverse designed by Wade Robinson features a koala clinging to a branch with all four paws while eating gum leaves. Also shown are the coins size and "9999 Gold."
