2010 U.S. Mint Uncirculated Coin Set Released
United States Coins Thursday, July 15th, 2010Beginning at Noon (Eastern Time) today, the US made available on of its most popular annual sets - the 2010 U.S. Mint Uncirculated Coin Set.
Included in the set is a total of twenty-eight coins, with fourteen of those struck at the US Mint's facility in Denver and fourteen of those struck at the US Mint's facility in Philadelphia. Each Mint's strikes are presented together on a colored folder - typically the blue folders contain strikes from Philadelphia and the red folder contains strikes from Denver.
Coins are individually sealed in protective blisters on each folder allowing the holder to view both the coin's obverse and reverse with a flip of the folder. Each folder contains a sample of each of the circulating coins struck by that Mint facility.
As such, coins included in the set as a whole are:
- 2010 P & D Fillmore Presidential Dollar Coins
- 2010 P & D Pierce Presidential Dollar Coins
- 2010 P & D Buchanan Presidential Dollar Coins
- 2009 P & D Lincoln Presidential Dollar Coins
- 2010 P & D Native American Dollar Coins
- 2010 P & D Kennedy Half Dollars

- 2010 P & D Yosemite National Park Quarters, representing the state of California
- 2010 P & D Grand Canyon National Park Quarters, representing the state of Arizona
- 2010 P & D Mount Hood National Forest Quarters, representing the state of Oregon
Making this set somewhat unique is the fact that a majority of the coins in it have not been included in a Mint Set before. New strikes for the year include the four 2010 Presidential Dollars (Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanan and Lincoln), the 2010 Native American Dollar, the 2010 Lincoln Union Shield Cent and the five debut strikes of the America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program - Hot Springs National Park Quarter, Yellowstone National Park Quarter, Yosemite National Park Quarter, Grand Canyon National Park Quarter and the Mount Hood National Park Quarter.
These sets are among the most popular items offered by the Mint. Typically hundreds of thousands of the sets are ordered each year with many past years reaching the one million plus level.
The Mint lists a price of 31.95 for each set with the standard shipping and handling charge of 4.95 added to each order. Those interested may place their order on the Mint's website of www.usmint.gov or via their toll-free number of 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
The US Mint will be releasing another popular annual set next week. The 2010 United States Mint Proof Set® will be released on July 22nd. For more information on that set, read our previous US Mint July Releases post.
