2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating Coin Set Debuts

2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating Coin Set™ (US Mint image)The United States Mint today, November 8, 2012 released the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating Coin Set™. This set went on sale from the US Mint beginning at Noon (Eastern) for $5.95 per set, plus the Mint's standard shipping and handling charge of $4.95 per order.

Included as part of the set are ten different circulation quality 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters  struck as part of the US Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. This includes one each of the five circulating quality quarters struck at the US Mint's facility in Philadelphia and one each of the five circulating quality quarters struck at the US Mint's facility in Denver.

The Philadelphia and Denver facilities are typically responsible for the circulating coinage of the United States. Thus, the coins included as part of this set are representative of those that might be found in general circulation.

Found in the 2012 Quarters Circulating Coin set are Philadelphia (P) and Denver (D) examples of the following 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters:

In total, the set includes ten different coins.

Shown on the obverse of each coin of the set is the same portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan. The reverse of the coins contains the designs emblematic of the selected site of national interest

The America the Beautiful Quarters Program debuted with five 2010-dated strikes and is scheduled to include five additional strikes per year until 2021 when the last of fifty-six new quarters will have been issued. One strike from the program is representative of a select location from each state, the District of Columbia and the five US territories.

Packaging of the new circulating coin set is described by the US Mint with:

"The packaging allows customers to easily open it if desired so the coins may be removed and placed into albums or other collecting tools. "
