These affordable strikes are composed of one-tenth ounce of .999 fine silver. Mintage for the Koala 1/10 oz Silver Coin has not been set and will be determined by the number of orders received for the product during a twelve-month period.
These coins continue the Perth Mint's koala series. The program itself dates back to 2007 and features many new products annually each showcasing a unique reverse design created for the releases of the year. The 2013 design was unveiled by the Perth with the debut of several larger sizes of the 2013 Koala Silver Bullion Coins in September of 2012.
The design depicts an adult koala resting in the fork of a eucalyptus tree, as completed by artist Tom Vaughan. Reverse inscriptions of this release include AUSTRALIAN KOALA and 2012 1/10 OZ 999 SILVER. In addition, the Perth Mint's historic 'P' mint mark is located to the bottom right of the design.
Each of these coins is struck as legal tender of Australia with a face value of 10 cents. That face value is inscribed on the obverse of the coin along with ELIZABETH II and AUSTRALIA which encircle the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
Specifications for the release include a minimum gross weight of 3.135 grams along with a maximum diameter of 20.60 mm and a maximum thickness of 2.00 mm. Each coin comes housed in an illustrated presentation card showcasing the photographic image of an adult koala and its young. The card is imprinted with 2013 AUSTRALIAN KOALA and 1/10 oz SILVER COIN.
The 2013 Australian Koala 1/10 Oz Silver Coin may be ordered directly from the Perth Mint for AUS $ 13.59. That pricing is subject to change based on silver market activity.
