2013 Mini Roo 0.5g Gold Coin Available

2013 Mini Roo Gold Coin (Perth Mint image)Available now from the Perth Mint of Australia is the 2013 Mini Roo 0.5g Gold Coin. This coin is struck from half a gram of 99.99% pure gold and features the likeness of a kangaroo on its reverse.

Pricing of the Mini Roo is AUS $54.09 (US $56.87), however, that is subject to change based on market conditions. The strike is presented on a mint-to-order basis with the final mintage announced following the end of production.

Mini-Roos first appeared from the Perth Mint in 2010. New annual versions have been issued since with the series creating a loyal following thanks to the unique size, designs, composition and affordable price points.

Shown on the reverse of the 2013 Mini Roo is a single koala portrayed in a classic stance as designed by Perth Mint artist Wade Robinson. Inscribed below the image is 0.5 GRAM 9999 GOLD. The Perth Mint's historic 'P' mintmark is also found on the reverse.

These coins are struck as legal tender of Australian and contain an obverse portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. The effigy is surrounded by the inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2013 and 2 DOLLARS.

"Extremely affordable, the delightful Mini Roo offers collectors the chance to expand their collection," states the Perth Mint when describing the coin. "This coin is a precious collectable or gift that will stand the test of time."

Specifications of the release include a gold content of $0.016 troy ounces of .9999 fine gold. The maximum diameter of the Mini Roo is 11.60 mm with a maximum thickness of 0.70 mm.
