The four new coins of this set all depict different images of a snake set against a background showcasing an Eastern scene. That scene forms a linked image when all four coins are placed together in the correct order.

The featured snakes include the Blue-Lipped Sea Krait, Yellow Banded Wolf Snake, Red Bamboo Rat Snake and Chinese Green Tree Viper. Each snake is colored to reflect their real life hues.

Also offered on the reverse is the Chinese character for snake and the Perth Mint's historic 'P' mintmark. They are joined by the inscription of 1 oz 999 SILVER and the initials of the designer, Tom Vaughan.

Shown on the obverse of the coins is an Raphael Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Obverse inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, COOK ISLANDS, 2013 and 1 DOLLAR.

Each coin of this new set is struck as legal tender of the Cook Islands. It should be noted that previous sets of the series have sold out.

The Perth Mint indicates the maximum mintage of the release will be just 3,000 sets. Each will come with a numbered certificate of authenticity along with a contemporary black framed display case which can house all four coins.
