In what is sure to be a good day for collectors, five new products are being released by the US Mint tomorrow (December 3, 2009).

As previously posted, the Margaret Taylor First Spouse coins are two issues that will become available. These coins are struck from one half ounce of 24-karat (.9999 fine) gold to either a proof or uncirculated condition. These will be the last First Spouse coins to be released this year and are expected to initially sell for $754 for the proof and $741 for the uncirculated, based on the Mint's pricing matrix.

Along with the gold Taylors, the Mint will also have 1 5/16' bronze medals of Margaret Taylor available. They are an exact likeness of her First Spouse coin and will sell for $3.95 each. As this bronze medal completes the series for the year, a five-coin set with all of the First Spouse bronze coins for 2009 is also being released. It contains bronzes of Anna Harrison, Letitia Tyler, Julia Tyler, Sarah Polk and Margaret Taylor and sells for $15.95.

American Eagle Platinum Proofs

Also appearing on the Mint shelves tomorrow will be the Eagle One-Ounce Platinum Proofs. Featuring a new design that is the first of six dedicated to the principles of the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States, the coins are struck from .9995 pure platinum. A price of $1,795 is anticipated for this coin.
