At a price point of $32.95, the United States Mint released the 2010 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™ today at Noon (Eastern Time).

Included in the set are the first five strikes ever of the new America the Beautiful Quarters Program which debuted this year.  However, making the coins of this set even more unique is the fact that each is struck from 90% silver and 10% copper as opposed to the clad composition found in normal circulating strikes as well as the standard Uncirculated Mint and Proof sets.

Each coin of the set is struck to proof quality at the US Mint's facility in San Francisco.  Appropriately then, buyers will find that the included coins show the "S" mintmark.

Coins of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program all feature reverse designs emblematic of selected  sites of national interest found throughout the United States and its territories.  One site was chosen from each state, the District of Columbia and each of the territories for a total of fifty-six new coins to be included in the completed program.

Release order for the coins is dictated by the order in which the chosen sites came under the control of the federal government.  The coins of this Silver Proof Set represent not only the America the Beautiful strikes minted this year, but also the first five of the entire program.

The 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set includes these coins:

  • 2010-S Hot Springs National Park Quarter
  • 2010-S Yellowstone National Park Quarter
  • 2010-S Yosemite National Park Quarter
  • 2010-S Grand Canyon National Park Quarter
  • 2010-S Mount Hood National Forest Quarter

Arkansas, Wyoming, California, Arizona and Oregon are all represented by the above quarters, respectively.  The list also shows the order in which the US Mint is releasing the circulating versions of each quarter - with the Hot Springs strike released back on April 20th, and the Yellowstone Quarter release ceremony scheduled for June 3rd.

To find out more about each individual quarter represented in this proof set see World Mint Coin's 2010 US Coins page.
