2011 September 11 National Medal Line Art (US Mint images)The United States Mint has announced that the 2011 September 11 National Medal will be available for ordering by the public beginning at Noon (Eastern) on Monday, June 20, 2011. These strikes are each composed of one ounce of .999 fine silver and commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.

Shown on the obverse of the proof quality medal is an image of Lady Liberty holding the Lamp of Remembrance to signify the loss of life and innocence that occurred on September 11, 2011. Behind Liberty are two beacons of light indicating the "resiliency and triumph of those who persevered" (according to the US Mint). Surrounding the image are the inscriptions of ALWAYS REMEMBER and 2001-2011. Continue reading

This will mark the fourth release of the 2011 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin™ Program and the ninth in the series overall. Coins in the series each feature a reverse design honoring a specific site of national interest with this coin's reverse depicting a design of Vicksburg National Military Park representing the state of Mississippi. 2011 Australian Koala 5 Oz Silver Proof CoinThe Perth Mint of Australia has recently launched the newest addition to its extremely popular koala series of coins - the 2011 Australian Koala 5 Oz Silver Proof Coin. It joins several 2011 Australian Koala Bullion Coins that premiered earlier this year which showcase the same designs.

These bullion koala coins continue a series dating back to 2007 which marked the first year the Perth Mint struck an image of one of Australia's famous marsupials on a bullion coin for the new series. 2010 Yosemite 5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coin (US Mint image)The United States Mint is scheduled to release the 2010 Yosemite 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin today. According to the US Mint, the strike will be available for ordering beginning at Noon (Eastern).

Today's launch was first indicated when the Mint added it to the Product Schedule late last month and was later confirmed by a press release issued on June 2, 2011. It marks the third issue of the extremely popular five ounce America the Beautiful series.

This series features obverse and reverse designs taken from the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program which debuted last year including reverse designs emblematic of selected sites of national interest - in this case Yosemite National Park of California. Continue reading

They feature a colorful reverse design showcasing one of the fictional characters of the Transformers franchise. US Mint Schedules Yosemite 5 oz Silver Uncirculated Coins Release

Yosemite-National-Park-5-Ounce-Silver-Uncirculated-CoinThe United States Mint recently added the 2010 Yosemite 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin to its release schedule. According to that product listing, the strikes will be offered for sale beginning on June 9, 2011.

This release will come three weeks and two days after the US Mint launched the previous strike in the series, the Yellowstone 5 oz Silver Uncirculated Coin. That strike made its debut on May 17, 2011 and is still currently available from the Mint. Those two coins mark the second and third in the series and follow the Hot Springs Silver Coins which were released on April 28th, but have since sold out. Continue reading

These Platinum Eagles have featured annually changing reverse designs since they were first issued, but the release of this 2011 strike signifies the third of six struck as part of a special series. The series pays tribute to the idea of democracy by focusing on the six principles of the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution based on narratives prepared by Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court John G.
