John Tyler $1 and Letitia Tyler Medal Launched in Set

The United States Mint made available on Tuesday the newest edition of its combo $1 coin and medal set, the 2009 US Mint Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set™ – John Tyler – Letitia Tyler.
A long product name for sure, but that's the US Mint description, not ours. In short, for the price of $8.95, collectors can buy a handsomely packaged card that includes:
- An uncirculated John Tyler Presidential $1 Coin, and
- A bronze medal bearing the likeness of the Letitia Tyler First Spouse Gold Coin
Orders may be placed directly on http://www.usmint.gov/, or by calling the US Mint directly at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
The sets are one of the more popular US Mint offerings, likely helped by the attractive presentation. The Harrison Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set, which launched in April, has sales of over 14,000.
Perhaps more interesting has been the prices the sets have gone for in the seconday market, when they are no longer offered by the Mint.
It is not unusual to find 2007 sets on places like eBay reaching between $50-$60. Newer sets have been sold for 2-3 times the original Mint price.
