The Perth Mint of Australia has released the Mayflower 1 Oz Silver Proof Coin. This strike continues the successful Ships That Changed the World Series which has experienced sell-outs since first debuting earlier this year.

The Royal Australian Mint has released two new silver coins as part of its 2012 Kangaroo Series - the 2012 Mareeba Rock-wallaby Silver Proof Coin and the 2012 Mareeba Rock-wallaby Frosted Silver Uncirculated Coin. Both contain the same image of a Mareeba Rock-wallaby, but feature different finishes resulting in a unique design on each version.
Each is struck from one ounce of 99.9% pure silver and are issued as some of the first 2012-dated releases from the Royal Australian Mint (RAM). A companion 1/10 ounce 99.99% pure gold Mareeba Rock-wallaby coin was also released, but the RAM already indicates the allocation process is closed for those gold strikes. [click to continue…]
With the recent release of the 2012 Year of the Dragon Gold and Silver Bullion Coins, it may interest some to know that the Perth Mint of Australia is still offering collector grade strikes featuring the previous Year of the Rabbit designs. These remaining 2011 Year of the Rabbit Gold and Silver Coins may only be available for a limited time as either maximum mintages for specific strikes are met or production focus shifts to new designs.

The Perth Mint of Australia has announced that the 2012 Australian Koala Silver Bullion Coins will be available for sale beginning on November 1, 2011. A total of four different sizes of the Australian Koala Coin will be issued with each struck from 99.9% pure silver.
Shown on the reverse of the silver bullion coins will be a design featuring Australia's famous marsupial, the koala. The design is new for 2012 in keeping with the Perth's tradition of changing the koala image annually in the series. [click to continue…]
The Perth Mint of Australia has released the newest editions of the Australian Lunar Series II - the 2012 Year of the Dragon Gold and Silver Bullion Coins. Coins in these series are either struck from 99.99% pure gold or 99.9% pure silver to several different sizes.
Like previous releases in this series, these coins are centered around the Chinese zodiac with the 2012 strikes specifically depicting the fifth animal of 12 featured in the zodiac - the Dragon. Included in this set are five 99.9% pure silver coins featuring colorized reverses depicting classic hero and villain pairs taken from literature and mythology.
Each coin in the set is struck as legal tender of the country of Tuvalu and includes the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England on the obverse. The Perth Mint of Australia has released the Golden Hind 1 Oz Silver Proof Coin as the second issue of the Ships That Changed the World Series. This coin is struck from one ounce of 99.9% pure silver and features a maximum mintage of only 5,000 pieces.
Shown on the reverse of the coin is a design depicting the majestic ship known as the Golden Hind. The ship was named the Golden Hind by Sir Francis Drake in preparation for his voyage around the Strait of Magellan. Struck from 99.9% pure silver, the introduction of these strikes continue a series that really dates back to 2007 when the design found on the reverse was first featured on a gold coin.
