2012 United States Mint Proof Set® (US Mint image)

Beginning at Noon (Eastern) today, May 7, 2012, the United States Mint will be releasing what is sure to be a popular favorite of many collectors, the 2012 United States Mint Proof Set®. The 14-coin set is priced at $31.95, plus the US Mint's standard shipping and handling charge of $4.95 per order.

Each coin of the set is struck to proof quality at the US Mint's facility in San Francisco from the standard composition for the specific strike and then encased in one of three protective lenses. The lenses are then placed inside illustrated packaging indicating the contents of "2012 United States Mint Proof Set®" and the US Mint's logo.

The United States Mint today, April 24, 2012, released two new annual collectors sets for sale to the public. Beginning at Noon (Eastern), collectors were able to order the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Uncirculated Coin Set™ and the 2012 United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set™.

Both are available now for ordering directly from the United States Mint by calling the toll-free number of 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468) or by using the Mint's online store at catalog.usmint.gov. In addition to the sale price of each set (listed below), the Mint's standard shipping and handling charge of $4.95 per order applies.

The United States Mint today will release three new products associated with the Chester Arthur Presidential $1 Coin. Available beginning at Noon, Eastern, on April 5, 2012 are 25-coin rolls of the new strike as well as 250 and 500-coin boxes of the latest issue in the series.

The Chester Arthur Presidential $1 Coin is the first strike to be issued in 2012 as part of the Presidential $1 Coin Program. It also marks the twenty-first to be issued in the series as a whole which dates back to 2007. [click to continue…]

2012 US Mint Product Schedule (US Mint website image)

The United States Mint has once again updated its Product Schedule available at its online store and added some items that will be of intense interest to collectors. Among those items are some extremely popular annual sets.

This includes the 2012 United States Mint Proof Set®, the 2012 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set® and the 2012 United States Mint Silver Proof Set®. Already appearing on the schedule were some other popular releases such as the American Buffalo Gold Proof Coins and the American Eagle Gold and Silver Proof Coins.

American Eagle Silver Proof Coin (2011 Version Shown) (US Mint images)While the United States Mint has yet to offer a complete Product Schedule for 2012 letting the public know when to expect certain products, it has released a list of issue prices for some of those products. Collectors will be happy to learn that many of those 2012 issue prices are lower than their 2011 versions were sold for.

Among the prices announced by the Mint, the 2012 Proof Silver Eagle will see a 9.5% decrease from the highest price point the 2011 Eagle sold at. Other affected products include the United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set®, several America the Beautiful Quarters® products and some Presidential $1 Coin products. [click to continue…]

Several upcoming products have a preliminary release date posted thanks to an updated 2012 US Mint Product Schedule available on the US Mint website. According to the Scheduled Products Listing offered on the site, at least seven new products will be issued in the first two months of 2012.

Of those seven, three will be annual product offerings (two of which appeared much later in the year for the 2011 releases), two will involve the release of a single America the Beautiful Quarter, one encompasses a single Presidential $1 Coin and one will be a 2012 commemorative silver dollar. More information on each of the seven scheduled releases is offered below along with their anticipated release dates:

1/10/12 - 2012 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set™

The United States Mint plans to issue the 2012 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set™ on January 10, 2011. The strike will include proof quality examples of the five America the Beautiful quarters to be issued for the year including the 2012 El Yunque Quarter, the 2012 Chaco Culture Quarter, the 2012 Acadia Quarter, the 2012 Hawaii Volcanoes Quarter and the 2012 Denali Quarter.

The 2011 version of this set was only issued on March 17, 2011 and is currently available for $14.95. This means the newest version will appear two full months earlier in the year giving collectors much more time to make their purchases.

1/17/12 - 2012 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™

The 2012 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™ will be released by the US Mint on January 17, 2011 according to their current product schedule. The set contains the same five 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters previously mentioned as included in the standard proof set, but instead of being struck from clad these coins will be composed of 90 percent silver.

The 2011 version of the set was issued on April 1, 2011 and is currently being sold for $41.95.

1/23/12 - America the Beautiful Quarters Bags and Two-Roll Set – El Yunque (PR)

Both bags and two-roll sets of the El Yunque Quarter will be released on January 23, 2012. If the US Mint follows previous procedure, the two- roll sets will consist of one roll of forty circulation quality quarters struck in Denver and one roll of forty circulation quality quarters struck in Philadelphia. The bags give buyers the option of either 100 quarters struck in Philadelphia or 100 struck in Denver.

The most recent release of a bag of 100 America the Beautiful Quarters (Chickasaw) is currently being offered for $49.95 while the two-roll sets sell for $39.95.

2/7/12 -2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set™ – El Yunque

A set containing three examples of the El Yunque Quarter will be issued on February 7, 2012. The 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set™ – El Yunque Set will contain an uncirculated El Yunque Quarter struck in Philadelphia, and uncirculated El Yunque Quarter struck in Denver and a proof El Yunque Quarter struck in San Francisco.

Both 2010 and 2011 versions of the sets are currently available for $14.95 from the US Mint.

2/16/12 - Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar

On February 16, 2012, the US Mint plans to release the 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar in both proof and uncirculated condition struck as a commemorative release honoring the infantry of the United States Army. These coins will be struck from 90% silver with a diameter of 1.5 inches which is standard for modern silver dollar commemoratives.

While no official price has been announced, 2011 commemorative silver dollars are currently being sold for $54.95 for uncirculated varieties and $59.95 for proof.

2/16/12 - Chester Arthur $1 Coin Rolls

Also on February 6, 2012, the US Mint plans to issue the first Presidential $1 Coin rolls of the year with the Chester Arthur $1 Coin Rolls. These rolls will include 25 Chester Arthur $1 Coins with the buyer's having the choice of circulation quality strikes from Philadelphia or Denver.

Current Presidential $1 Coin rolls are being sold by the Mint for $39.95.

2/23/12 - 2012 United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set™

The final release date currently known for 2012 US Mint products is on February 23, 2012 for the 2012 United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set™. This set will contain proof quality examples of the four Presidential $1 Coins to be issued during the year.

Like other pending releases, a final price for the set is not yet known. However, the 2011 set is currently available for $19.95.

Chickasaw Quarters & Garfield Presidential $1 Coins (US Mint images)In a week filled with more product activity than normal, the US Mint will both add five new products to its line-up as well as remove five. The affected products include strikes created as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program as well as some minted as part of the Presidential $1 Coin series.

The newest releases will actually replace the outgoing products on the Mint's shelves as part of their associated series. As has been Mint policy, as a new strike in a series is issued, the oldest currently available in that program is removed from availability. [click to continue…]

Grant Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Set (US Mint image)The United States Mint will begin selling the 2011 Grant Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Set this Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Noon (Eastern). The set includes an uncirculated Ulysses S. Grant Presidential $1 Coin and a Julia Grant Bronze Medal which is struck to resemble the Julia Grant First Spouse Gold Coin.

Each Grant $1 Coin and Medal Set will sell for $14.95, plus the US Mint's standard shipping and handling charge of $4.95 per order.
