The 225th anniversary of the United States Marshals Service will be celebrated in 2015 with special gold, silver and clad commemorative coins issued by the United States Mint.

Their release was authorized by Congress with the passage of the United States Marshals Service 225th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act (H.R. 886). It was signed into law by President Barack Obama on April 2, 2012 as Public Law 112-104.

The United States Mint has once again updated its Product Schedule available at its online store and added some items that will be of intense interest to collectors. Among those items are some extremely popular annual sets.

Star-Spangled Banner Commemorative Coins

The United States Mint has announced an official launch ceremony to be held for the Star-Spangled Banner Commemorative Coins. Along with that announcement, the US Mint also issued imagery of the actual strikes to replace the line-art images previously released as well as an image of the two-coin proof set

The Star-Spangled Banner Commemorative Coins will officially be launched at 11:00 AM ET on March 5, 2012 at the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine Visitor Center, located at 2400 East Fort Avenue in Baltimore, MD. Several official dignitaries are expected to attend including U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, U.S. Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, U.S. Congressman John Sarbanes, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Fort McHenry NM&HS Supt. Tina Orcutt and United States Mint Chief Counsel Daniel Shaver.

2012 Infantry Soldier Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar (US Mint images)The United States Mint today, February 16, 2012, began selling the 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollars. These commemorative coins are issued by the US Mint to recognize the legacy of the U. S. Army Infantry and the establishment of the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center in Columbus, Georgia.

Each Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar is struck from 90% silver and features obverse and reverse imagery emblematic of the Infantry Soldier. The coins will be struck to a maximum mintage of just 350,000 to proof and uncirculated conditions, both of which are available now. [click to continue…]

Chickasaw-America-the-Beautiful-Coin (US Mint images of related Quarter)

The 2011 Chickasaw Silver Uncirculated Coin was released by the United States Mint today, February 9, 2012. This release marks the last 2011-dated strike to be issued by the US Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin series.

Shown on the reverse of the Chickasaw Silver Uncirculated Coin is a design emblematic of Chickasaw National Recreation Area located in the state of Oklahoma.
