US Mint Releases 2012 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set

2012 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set® (US Mint image)The United States Mint today will release one of its most popular annual numismatic offerings commonly referred to as the "Mint Set." The 2012 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set® goes on sale beginning at Noon (Eastern) today, Monday, March 21, 2012.

Pricing on each Mint Set is listed at $27.95, plus the US Mint's standard shipping and handling charge of 4.95 per order. Each set contains a total of twenty-eight coins separated into two durable folders with each folder holding fourteen strikes.

One folder contains coins struck to uncirculated quality at the US Mint's facility in Philadelphia and one coin contains coins struck to uncirculated quality at the Denver facility. These two locations are routinely responsible for producing the circulating coinage of the United States.

Included as part of the 2012 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set are the following twenty-eight coins:

New coin designs never offered before as part of a Mint Set include the five 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters®, the 2012 Native American $1 Coin and the four 2012 Presidential $1 Coins.

The US Mint describes the Mint Set with:

"United States Mint uncirculated coins are struck on special presses using greater force than circulating coins, producing a sharp, intricately detailed image. The coins are sealed in a blister and displayed in a folder. One folder contains coins bearing the “P” mint mark and the other contains coins bearing the “D” mint mark."
