In news that will be of extreme interest to collectors, the United States Mint has firmed up the release dates for several product options due out the first quarter of 2010. Most notably among these are the highly anticipated Boy Scouts of America Commemorative Dollars in both proof and uncirculated conditions.

The Mint had previously sketched a March release for the coins and that is holding true with the exact date of March 23, 2010 now showing on the Mint's website. The commemorative silver dollars are already stirring up quite a bit of interest, not only among the average collector, but also by those who are, or have been, involved in the Scouting organization.

Another pair of commemorative silver dollars are also making their appearance early in the year. Due out on the 25th of February are the American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollars.

Missing from the first three months are any coins from the America the Beautiful Quarters Program which launches this year. It appears the first coin in this series (Hot Springs National Park Quarter) will not be seen until April.

The complete first quarter schedule as currently shown by the Mint is:

  • January 22 - 2010 Native American $1 Coin 25-Coin Roll, Philadelphia
  • January 22 - 2010 Native American $1 Coin 25-Coin Roll, Denver
  • January 29 - 2010 Kennedy Half-Dollar 200 Coin Bag
  • January 29 - 2010 Kennedy Half-Dollar Two-Roll Set
  • February 11 - 2010 United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set
  • February 18 - Millard Fillmore $1 Coin Rolls
  • February 25 - 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar
  • March 4 - First Spouse Series One-Half Ounce Gold Coin – Abigail Fillmore
  • March 4 - Abigail Fillmore Bronze Medal
  • March 23 - 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar
  • March 26 - United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set - Millard Fillmore

Of course, even with the dates posted, the Mint reserves the right to change the dates without notice.

To Whom It May Concern:

I’m writing to ask what the process is for ordering/purchasing the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar. Do I order from this website or from my local bank?

Thank you for your time and assistance. Renae Lacher

Has anyone heard of issues with coins coming up missing from the boxes being mailed? My coin came up missing. Contacted the mint. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this…
