2010 Australian Kangaroo Gold Coins
General Coin Information
With an image of Australia's most famous marsupial, the Perth Mint is issuing the 2010 Australian Kangaroo Gold Coins. Struck from 99.99% pure gold, these are sure to be a hit with both collector's and investors.
The Perth first started issuing Kangaroo Gold coins in 1990 with a design changing on most sizes annually. The 2010 collection consists of five different sizes; 1 kilo, 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce and 1/10 ounce.
Each of these coins features two boxing kangaroos on their reverse, with the exception of the 1 kilo coin, which showcases a hopping kangaroo designed by Dr. Stuart Devlin, AO CMG goldsmith and jeweler to Queen Elizabeth II.
The Kangaroo coins are all considered legal tender from the Australian government with that entity guaranteeing the weight and purity of each issue.
The 1 kilo coin mintage is unlimited, but a maximum 350,000 1 oz coins, 100,000 1/2 oz coins, 150,000 1/4 oz coins and 200,000 1/10 oz coins will be struck.
